We've kinda been outta line since the beginning. We're proud
that we didn't quit, throw in the towel or give up.
For over 10 years, the Headstones have been defining the standard by denying all thats standard issue and giving the finger to convention. Its been a continuing adaptation of punk, rock and attitude. Exactly as it should be, but so rarely is, for those of lesser mettle. Welcome to this compendium of some of the bands sonic accomplishments: The Greatest Fits.
While the time is fitting for a retrospective of their storied past, this album goes further, with a look to the future. In addition to the 12 remastered greats, there are two new tracks, including the heart-stopping first single, Blowtorch. That and Come On are not bonus rarities or disposable add-ins. They are harbingers of whats to come and proof of all that the Headstones are renowned for. Im invigorated by having the new songs recorded for this album, says Hugh. They decidedly show where we are taking our sound. This release isnt rest and relaxation, its continuing to Rock n Roll.
Headstones are the consummate touring band. Theyve crossed Canada more times than many could withstand. The United States, Mexico, the UK and Europe have all benefited from their export excursions. Playing to crowds from 100 to the tens of thousands, the spectacle of their live show has been delivered to the people. Whether at a club, arena or festival, all those who have witnessed can attest to the incendiary nature of the band when faced with an audience. This is where they walk the walk.
The Headstones iconography is often associated with singer Hugh Dillon, easily one of the most recognizable figures in Canadian music. This is testament to his compelling persona, revealed in the music and also his many appearances in film and on television, which have served not only to expand his own range of artistic expression but transport elements of this band to further reaches.
The Greatest Fits offers a perspective on a remarkable decade: 4 albums, ten videos, 16 Rock radio hits, three Juno nominations, Gold and Platinum certifications. Over 300,000 Canadians cant be wrong!
