About

Kickshaw

circa 2001 - circa 2003
KickShaw were never ones to follow a trend. While defining their own folk and funk-influenced rock stylings in their native Victoria, KickShaw explored social issues and personal introspection and fans instantly latched on. Still, having such stardom wasn't a big deal. KickShaw had an intimate bond and a union of spirited songs. Among the plethora of bands on the scene, KickShaw forged their own way into the fold ? establishing themselves with a unique, uncompromising sound.

Formed in 2001 in Victoria, British Columbia, KickShaw came together with Adam Greeley (vocals, guitar), Ed Ross (guitar), Alex MacCuaig (bass) and Manj Benning (drums). Within their first year, KickShaw had performed at every major venue in Victoria and Nanaimo, headlining most. A self-titled eponymous EP appeared in early 2002, but it took the band the rest of the year to get all the pieces into place. Their 1st proper studio effort, 2003's Collage , showcases the band?s innate sense of expression and Greeley?s powerful songwriting.

By refusing to be categorized, KickShaw has honed their sound in homage to various influences: Stone Roses, Phish, Blind Melon, Air, Pixies, Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down ? and the possibilities are endless.
