About

Blues Union

circa 70s
Please note that the picture above was the first version of Blues Union.
Bob Lesher reformed the band with different members: Ken Moran/Glen Haley: guitars, Nick Hall-Patch/Bill Burdick: Bass, Tony MaCauley/Andy Hall-Patch and Graham: Drums, with Bob Lesher: Harmonica & vocals
The #2 version was a mainstay group at the Brown Jug, working in Victoria and up-island for Dave Ringland's B.C. Sound Productions.
The first version of Blues Union embraced "British Blues" and modern blues artists much more while the Blues Union- #2 was heavily influenced by time-tested Chicago Blues, the bulk of its material being as such. Blues Union-1 featured songs like 'Stroll On' by the Yardbirds, 'She Caught The Katy' by Taj Mahal and it's big set-closer 'Boogie Chillen' by John Lee Hooker. The band had a huge run at The Purple Onion in Victoria, filling the place, Friday & Saturday nights, for several weeks.
