About

the resistance - manitoba

Resistance is a melodic yet agressive female fronted punk band from the heart of the Canadian praries, Selkirk Manitoba. Aesthetic female fronted bands have always been a rarity in the music industry, and from the beginning Resistance has delivered it's own brand of in-your-face punkrock with complete disregard to "what's cool". With well crafted, sturdy, lung wrenching vocals, entrenched through clever guitar work and fast beating drums Resistance bring their genre to an all new level, they do punk rock and deliver it well.

Resistance released their debut album (Plague The Nation) in August of 2003 on Canadian indie label Lonely Tree Records. Working with their first viable producer; Mark Chaplin (Choke, Propagandhi), Plague The Nation took Resistance's developed sound and blistering guitar-work to a new level. Their 8 song EP evokes feelings of Courtney Love's beginning roots blended with Good-Riddance-esq punk/hardcore with a more agressive yet matured sound.

Touring now their favored lifestyle, the new record brought Resistance across Canada for 8 weeks in summer/fall of 2003 to promote Plague The Nation to an amazing response from fans and critics alike. Inspired, guided and matured as time goes on Resistance's expressive music has lead them to being dubbed "one of the best live bands in Canada". And with such a willing and dedicated attitude Resistance is ready to risk it all to see where they can go and what they can accomplish.

With high hopes, young hearts and a set of strong lungs, Resistance's female fronted fervent sound and live show never hits soft and their passion to play music has become their paramount commitment to reach success; their pivotal drive to get people listening. They'll do whatever it takes.
