Event Description
. Saturday, Oct. 28th IMU & CiTR present HALLOWEEN HOWLER w/ The Furios, The Skatomatics, The Panic & The Orchid Highway @ The RAILWAY CLUB, 579 Dunsmuir Street . Doors 8:30pm / $10Infernal hellraisers hellbent on a howling hellbender convene on this sinister evening to cast a wicked spell that will have you ghoulishly grooving to irresistibly evil rhythms, even as you dance to your doom! Hosted by the diabolically dashing MC Austin Powers (AKA Willy Krueger), dress up and join our delightfully costumed musical spectres!
The FURIOS deliver an irresistible blend of ska, reggae, and catchy punk with solid, memorable vocals and empowering, danceable anthems that range from head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal ska romps. Featuring a three piece horn section complemented by distinct songwriters and vocalists, The Furios shine the brightest when seen and heard live. The six piece band rocks, jumps, bumps and dances through set after set creating a party atmosphere that has made them a favorite with audiences. With 11 Canadian tours under their belt and dates on last year's Vans Warped Tour, The Furios have shared stages with Fishbone, Bedouin Soundclash, The Planet Smashers, DOA, The Smugglers and many others.
The SKATOMATICS - Fresh from last month's sold out CD release show at the Lamplighter, The Skatomatics will draw you irresistably to your feet with their blend of 4x4 time and a brass section. Featuring former members of Edmonton's Mad Bomber Society and Halifax ska pioneers Dr. Skankworthy, The Skatomatics bonded over their love for bands like The Police, Sublime, King Apparatus and The Clash.
The PANIC bring thumping tunes, sanded chaos, a dancefloor and somewhere to be lost. Damn fine dirty ska-rock with evil funk inflections and a dose of unabashed twang. The Panic isn't about shoe-gazing or chronic heartache, glitz or splashy effects. The lyrics spring neither from a well of bottomless rage nor from an unquenchable need to shed vain tears. Bring dancing shoes and a will to move, fuel those moments with great songs and the right attitude.
ORCHID HIGHWAY deliver amped up Rock and Roll for pop symphony junkies. Heavy harmonied, organ saturated, overamplified Rock and Roll that leaves you sweating, breathless and wondering why your lover can never be this good!
