Mixing thought, melody, attitude, speed and ability since 1980, Bad Religion is the epitome of the thinking person’s punk band. The L.A.-based outfit combines an unceasing, questioning intelligence with an unparalleled knack for turning headlines into great lyrics and extraordinarily catchy melodies against a fast ‘n’ furious backdrop of fiery guitars. On its 13th and latest album, The Empire Strikes First, these Vans Warped Tour vets have come up with their most incendiary record yet, one that attacks the Bush Administration with all the keen intelligence and remarkable ferocity that has fuelled the band’s two-decade plus career. Following the band’s creative revitalization with the return of co-writer/producer/guitarist and founding member Brett Gurewitz in 2002, and with a fresh target in its sights, Epitaph’s flagship band is stronger, more committed and more opinionated than ever.

Credited with bringing the bagpipes to the guitar-infested Vans Warped Tour, Boston’s Dropkick Murphys have emerged as the pre-eminent proponents of Celtic rock. Formed 10 years ago, the band has issued five full-length albums, including 2005’s career-best The Warrior’s Code, as well as numerous singles and DVDs, live albums and comps. The Murphys’ hometown pride resulted in the use of their recording of the Boston Red Sox anthem “Tessie” in the 2004 World Series as well as in the movie Fever Pitch with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore. Their raunchy and inspiring tunes and spirited performances make every Dropkick Murphys show an event, drawing thousands of the faithful for a frenzied good time.
