Event Description
Friday, July 21st IMU & CiTR present The Furios, The Skatomatics, Cheek + Seven O'Clock Scandal @ The LAMPLIGHTER 210 Abbott Street . Doors 8pm / $10 -:- Info: 604 681 6666The SKATOMATICS - Fresh from their June 2006 sold out Lamplighter CD release show, The Skatomatics will draw you irresistably to your feet and have you putting on your dancing shoes with their blend of 4x4 time and brass section. Featuring former members of Edmonton's Mad Bomber Society and Halifax ska pioneers Dr. Skankworthy, 2002 saw The Skatomatics come together in a Vancouver storage locker, when a couple of locals bonded over their love for bands like The Police, Sublime, King Apparatus and The Clash. http://www.skatomatics.com
The FURIOS deliver an combustable blend of ska, reggae, and catchy punk with solid, memorable vocals and empowering, danceable anthems that range from head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal ska romps. Featuring a three piece horn section complemented by distinct songwriters and vocalists, The Furios shine the brightest when seen and heard live. The six piece band rocks, jumps, bumps and dances through set after set creating a party atmosphere that has made them a favorite with audiences. With 11 Canadian tours under their belt and dates on last year's Vans Warped Tour, The Furios have shared stages with Fishbone, Bedouin Soundclash, The Planet Smashers, DOA, The Smugglers and many others. http://www.losfurios.com
CHEEK - Hip hop meets funk-ravaged jazz with seductive guitar riffs, catchy hooks and flawless flow. Emily Roop's lyrical prowess and sultry vocal style combined with her well-rounded sense of cheek completes this dynamic band.
SEVEN O'CLOCK SCANDAL - Vancouver's newest Ska/Rock/Pop act is a 3-piece unit influenced by classic artists like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, The Clash, Rancid, The Police and The Kingpins. http://www.myspace.com/7oclockscandal
