Event Description
Intercultural Arts Festival presented by Empire LifeThe Intercultural Arts Festival is a celebration of our rich cultural diversity here in Kingston. Enjoy free, family-friendly activities, including live music and dance performances, workshops, international markets and cuisine. The festival also includes the final iteration of this year’s Katarokwi Indigenous Art and Food Market showcasing local indigenous artisans, crafters, and chefs.
When and where?
On Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024 at Confederation Park from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Activities
Bring your appetite, the Festival will feature food by ThaiStreetFood (Thai), Q-Bite (Indian Fusion),
Jerkebago (Caribbean), Daal Roti (Indian), Tlaolli Tamales (Mexican), Ella’s Cuisine (African), El Gringo
Tacos (Mexican), Dr. Shawarma (Egyptian), in addition to multicultural arts, crafts, and food in the
International Pavilion.
Main Stage
On Ontario St. at Brock St. Come and experience arts and cultural performances on the festival mainstage including hip hop with Francophone MC LeFLOFRANCO, reggae and dancehall with Gravel G & Untraxx, and Samba with T. Dot Batu.
11:45 a.m.: Opening Ceremonies featuring community addresses by Mayor Bryan Paterson and guests
12:05 p.m.: St. Pierre Dancers and Drummers on the Ollin Drum
12:30 p.m.: Grass Dancing by the Ward Brothers
12:40 p.m.: Pinnal Thiruvathira Classical Rope Dance Presented by Kingston Malayali Association
12:50 p.m.: Rob Roy Pipe Band and Highland Dancers
1 p.m.: Traditional Bharathanatyam presented by Bhaarati School of Indian Classic Dance
1:05 p.m.: Salsa Dance presented by La Vida Bistrobar & Social
1:25 p.m.: Kings DON Taiko presented by Japanese Community & Friends
1:50 p.m.: Drawing You to My Heart Dance presented by Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District
2 p.m.: Punjabi Bhangra, Gujarathi Gharba, and Desi Divas presented by the India Canada Association of Kingston
2:15 p.m.: Bollywood presentation by the Association of Indian Graduate Students at Queen’s
