Event Description

Check it: Translink has announced that a new, armed Skytrain police force is taking effect on the Lower Mainland’s transit system. There is also talk of installing cameras on buses and increased surveillance.

Already facing discrimination and harassment before this announcement, the implications for youth (especially youth of colour, low-income youth, and hip-hop headz) are serious. A coalition of concerned youth and their allies are coming together to address this issue in a community forum, using the medium of hip- hop, to share ideas and develop a strategy, because
WE DON’T WANNA SEE KIDS GETTING CAPPED!
Does having guns on trains packed full of people strike you as a Bad idea?
Come and develop solutions with us.
Some of VanCity’s finest underground MCs will be throwing down.

Location: Open Studios (252 E 1st Avenue) take a bus or skytrain to
Main/Terminal area
Time: 8pm - get there early, it's gonna be packed

Union
