Event Description

Answering the caw of a crow, echoing a coyote's cry, whispering the sounds of the wind, singing the tones of a burbling brook ... Tina Pearson and Paul Walde have been working with Victoria musicians to learn to replicate these and other sounds of the biosphere of the Salish Sea area. Join them to experiment with sonic mimicry with voices, instruments and objects. The workshop includes sound play with participants and a discussion of themes behind the Music for Natural History Project. No skills or instruments needed, but acoustic instruments and simple sound-makers are most welcome.

If you are a musician or vocalist interested in performing in the Music for Natural History event January 2016, this is a perfect opportunity to see what the project is all about. Everyone welcome.

“The workshop allows us to tune in to the unexpected interconnections between landscape, identity, and technology,” says Kim Gough, Royal BC Museum’s Adult Learning Team Lead.
