Additional Info:
BLACKALICIOUS
In a hip-hop career that has stretched almost 2 decades, Blackalicious has earned respect the old-fashioned way; rising through honesty, commitment, and artistry. Blackalicious is an American hip hop duo from Sacramento, California made up of rapper Gift of Gab (born Tim Parker) and DJ/producer Chief Xcel (born Xavier Mosley). They are noted for Gift of Gab's often tongue-twisting, multisyllabic, complex rhymes and Chief Xcel's beats.
Like a few other West Coast rap acts, including the Pharcyde and Jurassic 5, Blackalicious has generally favored what hip-hoppers call the "positive tip". in other words, its lyrics have often been spiritual and uplifting rather than violent or misogynous. Like a lot of experimental alternative rappers, Blackalicious can be quirky and eccentric; nonetheless, spirituality is a big part of the group's music. Although Blackalicious wasn’t formed until the early 90s, its members had known each other since the late 80s. Founding members Gift of Gab (Timothy Parker) and Chief Xcel (Xavier Mosley) first met in Sacramento, CA, in 1987 when they were students at John F. Kennedy High School. Neither of them was originally from Sacramento; DJ/producer Xcel was a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, while rapper Gift of Gab was from L.A. suburban San Fernando Valley.
The two went their separate ways after Gift of Gab graduated from Kennedy High in 1989, but they were reunited in Davis, CA, in 1992. By that time, Xcel had become a student at the University of California at Davis and the Gift of Gabhad moved to Davis to form Blackalicious with him. UC Davis was where Xcel had started working with a hip-hop crew named SoleSides, whose members included DJ Shadow, Lateef the Truth Speaker, and Lyrics Born. SoleSides Records was the name of the SoleSides Crew's Northern California record company and in 1994, that label released Blackalicious' debut single "Swan Lake"; a small underground hit that fared well among alternative rap audiences. The following year, a Blackalicious EP titled Melodica was released. In 1999, another Blackalicious EP was put out, A2G.
In 2000, the group’s full-length debut was released after being together eight years. In 2002 the ‘Blazing Arrow’ album was released - which boasted guest appearances ranging from vocalist Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine) to the Roots' ?uestlove to veteran soul singer Gil Scott-Heron. The pair returned in 2005 for their third album, "The Craft";
On October 28th, 2014 - Blackalicious gained some notoriety when Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe performed a cover of "Alphabet Aerobics"; live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon which garnered over 26 million views.
A new album, tentatively titled "Emoni", will be released in the spring of 2015.

SirReal
Sirreal is an original hip hop artist bringing hard hitting beats and lyrical talent to every performance. As an entertainer Sirreal knows how much hard work and dedication it takes to be one on Vancouver Islands' best. Born in Comox, BC and currently holding it down for Nanaimo, this hip hop phenomenon takes full advantage of today's technology wrangling his army of fans via internet, music videos, albums, concert promotions and constant hustle. Just like the music industry, the life of this rising star has not been easy. Devastated by the untimely death of both his father and older brother, Sirreal learned to stand as a man conquering his demons of addiction and poverty. Now, instead of drugs Sirreal boldly laces his lyrics with the die hard truths of reality and its consequences whether they be positive or negative.
Sirreal's musical style bridges all genres of music by blending truthful hard-hitting lyrics with a live touring stage band named Blue Satellite. The result is a fresh and distinct live sound that has been captivating audiences all over Western Canada.
Sirreal has opened for such artists as Tech Nine (4 times!!), Royce Da 5”9, Bone Thugs N Harmony, B Real of Cypress Hill, Heavy Metal Kings (Vinny Paz and Ill Bill), Masta Ace, Bif Naked, The Beatnuts, Daniel Wesley, Moka Only, Mad Child, Sweatshop Union, and Juno award winning rap artist Belly, just to name a few.
If you haven't heard him yet, now is your chance to give one of Vancouver Island's finest a listen.
Sirreal’s new single (with Supa Dan), “Space Invaders”, has just been released and is available for free via his band camp page. https://sirreal3.bandcamp.com/track/space-invaders-bomb-your-planet

DJ ALL GOOD
DJ All Good, also known as Peter Poole, has a reputation for carrying a fun loving / anything goes vibe that enhances any party.
“My style is turntablism - which is about using techniques (sampling, beats, cutting, etc.) and applying it to music using turntables. Instead of being genre-specific, I fuse different types of music (hip-hop, rock, house, etc) with the flair of a performing artist. My philosophy is to select choice sounds, then chop and mix them, and then serve hot and fresh on two vinyl platters.”
DJ All Good has repeatedly proven his skills in battle - most recently placing 2nd in the 2013 DMC Western Canada finals. In 2009, DJ All Good came in 2nd in the DMC Canadian National finals. In 2008, he placed 2nd in Victoria’s Redbull 3Style Battle.
Recently, All Good was invited to act as a guest instructor at Jam Master Jay’s Scratch Academy in New York City - which was a highlight of his DJ career so far.
All Goods’ new project is known as the “TURNTEMPLE” - which is a portable solar-powered mix station that he uses during warmer months at music festivals, schools, and community events around North America.
