Event Description

Open Space has partnered with the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra to present a concert of new music for traditional Japanese instruments. This concert is in conjunction with VICO’s Chrysanthemum and Maple Leaves Festival. This concert will include Sato on shō, McQueen-Tokita on koto, and Huebner on shakuhachi, with special guests the Emily Carr String Quartet. Also join us for an instrument demonstration at the Victoria Public Library on Friday October 24, and a Composers' Reading session taking the format of an open rehearsal on Saturday October 25. Sato, McQueen-Tokita, and Huebner will also be making an appearance at the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society's Japanese Cultural Fair on Saturday October 25.
