Event Description

Jazz guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/band leader John Pizzarelli is a technically proficient fretman with a soft voice, charming stage presence, and knack for uptempo swing. Pizzarelli is one of today's most renowned interpreters of the Great American Songbook.

Son of legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, John Pizzarelli grew up surrounded by jazz and swing legends and become a legend-in-the-making himself, with unmatched class, talent and wit. Known worldwide for his extraordinary rapport with audiences, smooth vocals and fantastic jazz guitar playing, Pizzarelli delivers performances to rave reviews wherever he goes.

He has had a lengthy career as a recording artist, recording 23 albums of his own on RCA Records, Chesky Records and now Telarc Records. His latest album, released in May of 2012, Double Exposure, focuses on two distinct styles to make a single fine recording. The Album recorded with his own quartet, pays simultaneous tribute to the pop music of his adolescence (Steely Dan, Billy Joel, The Allman Brothers, Neil Young, James Taylor, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and the jazz tradition. What’s charming about Double Exposure, beyond the sheer quality of the songs and the arrangements, is Pizzarelli’s obvious and genuine love for the really broad gamut of material, and his insight into the varied qualities that make them all great songs.

Appearing in Victoria with his own quartet Martin Pizzarelli bass, Larry Fuller piano and Tony Tedesco drums
