Event Description
One of the perks of owning your own live entertainment company is when your birthday rolls round you can book one of your favourite bands and tell everyone to get down to the Biltmore to toast your entry into the world. Dave Fortune did just that. August 18 at The Biltmore Cabaret, Perryscope Concerts presents one hell of a birthday bash, Swingin' Utters (putting out one of Fortune's favourite albums of 2011) along with Roll The Tanks and The Isotopes. There are sure to be many more hijinks planned for the evening so may we suggest marking your calendar now.The Swingin' Utters have been kicking ass since even before 1995’s The Streets Of San Francisco, which was so good that it got them signed to Fat Wreck Chords (back when that was a hard thing to do [Heyo!]), got them the attention of pretty much everyone that listens to good, aggressive music, got them on the Warped Tour and even won them a Bay Area Music award or two.
Look, all bios say that the musicianship is great and what you’ve become accustomed to is now being brought in bold new ways and then some, but this time, we’re talking about the Swingin’ Utters, and you already know how awesome they are, so let’s f#&k the pretence, and close by saying that these dudes show no signs of slowing down after a staggering twenty-one years of doing it.
Roll The Tanks is a band governed by few doctrines and represented by unknown forces. Born from Lowell and now incubating in Los Angeles, band members Danny, Scott, Phil, and Mike bring convention and composition without explanation to their utility. They adhere to what they know and belong to nothing. They get angry at the sky, and sometimes paint in numbers. Its beautiful to them, but its dark at times. Its all on one side but sometimes its on the other. There are some clouds. There is some sun, pavement, and plastic. There are buildings and there is truth. There is you. And there is this band... Welcome to Suffer City.
Rounding out the evening will be hometown MVPs The Isotopes, whose love for punk rock is only matched by their love of baseball. They full intend on schooling the masses on topics such as base running, fielding and batting techniques, strategy and general diamond etiquette.
