Event Description
Alice MacKay Room, Lower Level, VPL's Central LibraryThe Vancouver Bach Choir presents Stravinskys Les Noces, Orffs Catulli Carmina and Bergmanns Midsummer Flower. Maestro Leslie Dala will present a symposium on these fiery, passionate works and will be accompanied by representatives of the choir, the instrumentalists and soloists. This event will give you a taste of the upcoming full concert featuring three contemporary pieces complete with four pianos, a percussion ensemble, chorus and soloists.
Stravinsky's Les Noces (1923) is striking in its folk-like writing which conjures up the excitement and ceremony of a rustic wedding.
Carl Orff's Catulli Carmina (1943), the 'sequel' to his celebrated Carmina Burana celebrates love and desire before the ultimate betrayal.
Marcel Bergmann's Midsummer Flower (2008) is a highly lyrical invocation to the first breath of spring.atulli Carmina and Bergmanns Midsummer Flower. Maestro Leslie Dala will present a symposium on these fiery, passionate works.
