Event Description
The Family Stump, Vancouver's most hilariously inappropriate redneck country band, hails from Buckfluff Township and are a simple folk, placing great importance in community, kinship, and spreading the word of love. This has been particularly troubling to a wide range of law enforcement officials and voices for the maintenance of respectable societal standards, but the family has so far remained free to engage in the most preposterous musical tomfoolery ever seen in these here parts. The Stump Family are known as a subversively clever clan, renowned for their insane live shows, replete with plastic baby and individually wrapped veggie wiener giveaways, and unpredictable romantic-type behavior. They also lay down some seriously catchy country tunes and beautifully twangy ballads with lyrics that make your head spin, your heart melt and your stomach turn. Like an extra limb resulting from genetic "sharsies", the Stump Army is growing as we speak. Spread the love and avoid the authorities!VERY GOOD: Philosophical and absurd, the performance straddling the line between drama and sincere song. Very Good is like confused chamber music finding itself drunk in the basement, where something caused things to get a bit silly for a moment, and then serious, and then bitter at its own seriousness, to the point where it must throw it's hands up as if to say "what a fool I've been for not staying silly this whole time". Joseph Blood and the Bluetick Houn' Dogs are a hard hitting, shoot from the hip rocknroll bonanza. Somewhere between Gram Parsons and Mike Ness, Joseph Blood brings a maelstrom of punk influenced boozy psycho-country wherever he goes. Let's just call it rockandroll baby. You may have heard of it. The WhiskeyDicks are a raving group of Celtic Gypsy Punk Rockers who have a throbbing reputation as "One Hell of a Good Time". They began outside a liquor store when a couple of friends set out to earn money to spend at the liquor store by playing music about liquor in front of said liquor store. Yes, many members of WhiskeyDicks are from the Yukon, and they live by a fistful of simple mottos: Stand Back, Drink Up, Hit It Hard and Get 'er Done. They blast their way through traditional tunes and modern hits with the spirit of the mad and the thirst of a sailor who just got kicked out of his metal band, and it is quite simply impossible to have a bad time with them in the room cause they won't let you. The Creaking Planks marry traditional tunes of the Old Country with popular songs from last Thursday, all brought to a level musical playing field by the old-timey instrumentation of this jug band of the damned.
