Event Description

Music of the Whole World:
Explorations of World Music Cultures by Canadian Composers

The ABC’s of Intercultural Music

Join us for the third program in a six-part series produced by the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra (VICO), that aims to shed new light on the art of intercultural music-making. Mark Armanini and other VICO composers and performers will present a sneak preview of their March 2009 concert, including new pieces written for non-Western instruments by student participants in VICO's first ever high school workshops.

The series, Music of the Whole World, aims to provide access to educational materials on the art of intercultural music making. Whether you are a veteran composer, a beginning student of music, or simply a music lover wishing to learn more about the many musics of the world and the bridges between them, this series is an event you will not want to miss.
