Event Description
. Saturday, September 8th I.M.U. presents BULLETS OVER BEAUTY EP RELEASE w/ FIGHTING FOR ITHACA @ The Bourbon, 50 West Cordova . Doors 7pm / $10 - Purchase advance tickets online at http://www.imuproductions.com/tixBULLETS OVER BEAUTY - This power-house dark alt-rock combo is a combustible combination of modern rhythm-driven blues and rock influences formed by Steffyn (formerly of Painted Self & Dead by Sunset) with Jay (formerly of CrankRiot, Co-Sign & One Step Trip), Adam (An Oracle & One Step Trip) on drums, and Glenn (formerly of Halifax's A Murder of Crows & Cradle to Grave). Steffyn & Jay kick-started the band after Steffyn's arduous 3 year battle with cancer left him craving to play again, so now he brings his emotive vocal stylings together with a powerful dual guitar sound that creates the strong musical experience that is Bullets Over Beauty. http://www.myspace.com/bulletsoverbeauty
FIGHTING FOR ITHACA - Drawing influences from bands such as Underoath, Killswitch Engage, Ten Second Epic, Halifax, Anberlin, Silverstein and 30 Seconds to Mars, Fighting For Ithaca's contagiously energized bouncy rhythms and hooky vocals are backed with solid live harmonies and stage show that features Patty's aggressive vocals. Tired of generic, outdated sounds in the local scene, frontman Curtis Steeksma searched desperately for musicians with more adventurous musical tastes. After an extended search, he found his bandmates: guitarist Ryan Pulfer, bassist Tommy Phoenix and drummer Curtis Mathias. When vocalist friend Patty joined the melee, the band's instant chemistry was cemented and has already begun to find its niche in the Vancouver scene. http://www.myspace.com/fightingforithaca
