Since first appearing on the Warner release From the Heart, a collection of male artists like Michael Buble, Rob Thomas and Josh Groban, Tomi Swick’s star has been on the rise. His song “A Night Like This” climbed to #4 on the AC Radio Chart last year, and the Hamilton-based rocker’s debut Stalled Out in the Doorway is one of the Canadian success stories of last year—the disc was nominated for two Junos: Best Pop Album, and Tomi for Best New Artist. At the Canadian Music Awards, he was nominated in three different categories, including Best New Solo Artist, Best New Group or Solo Artist, and Best New Solo Artist, for three different songs. Recently, the single “Sorry Again” was the #2 most added song on mainstream AC chart. The disc itself is a varied first effort of heartfelt rockers and poignant ballads, and prompted Jian Ghomeshi of CBC Radio to praise Tomi’s “accessible and appealing pop melodies” and “Jeff Buckley-esque vocals,” and to remark, “He’s a raw and real talent. Tomi has been winning fans through his powerful headlining shows as well as sets supporting acts as diverse as the Barenaked Ladies and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Jeremy Fisher first came to national attention by doing things his way. To support his 2001 independent debut, Back Porch Spirituals, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter travelled across Canada on his bike for six months, playing shows wherever he could. The Hamilton-born and -raised singer-songwriter attracted enough attention that Sony/BMG released his next album, Let it Shine. A much more polished effort than his debut, the disc yielded the hit “High School.”. His third disc, Goodbye Blue Monday, recorded with the help of Hawksley Workman and featuring the song “Cigarette”, is scheduled for release at the end of March.
