Every jerkband and their DJ remixer boyfriend will tell you that A Certain Ratio are a prime influence on their new musical direction, that the new Rapture album is great but owes obvious debts to the Happy Mondays (DIRECTLY responsible for fucking EMF, by the way), and so forth until they run out of bands to namedrop from the latest issue of Fader magazine, and any webcam jockey from the suburbs of Vancouver worth their friendster account will tell you that early Hot Hot Heat was far superior, but not too many bands will be as overly sexual, outright in their heavy synth-borrowing techniques or as fucking entertaining as Olympia's Le Push... As Sir Bejar once crooned "You've got the spirit, but where's the feeling?"

At least this Olympian band doesn't sing about cats and favourite pairs of socks...
