Event Description
on sale fri, 2/2 @ 10amWith As Daylight Dies, their fourth album, Killswitch Engage is ready to take over the heavy music world. One of the most influential acts of the last decade, the band came out of the New England hardcore scene. Roadrunner Records immediately recognized the quintet’s unique, memorable blend of aggression, melody, rock, and metal, and released its sophomore full-length, Alive or Just Breathing. The disc hit # 37 on the Billboard album chart and won accolades from CMJ New Music Report and Alternative Press. The follow-up, The End of Heartache, debuted at #21 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart and was deemed “stunning” by Rolling Stone and “badass” by Spin. A Grammy nomination followed, and the disc has achieved near-gold status in the U.S. With its reputation as a fearsome live act growing, Killswitch Engage was the main support for Slayer in 2004 and made their second Ozzfest appearance in 2005 as a second stage headliner. In the same year, the band helped anchor the inaugural Taste of Chaos tour. As Daylight Dies offers a bold new vision for hard rock music in 2006 and beyond, with first single “My Curse” boasting one of the most memorable riffs in years.
With Inhuman Rampage, Dragonforce combines the primal force of power metal with musical proficiency, old-school thrash, and muscular melody. The third disc from the British sextet confirms the group’s ability to generate metal mayhem. The European press, including Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, have swamped Dragonforce with reams of adulation. Combining intensity, chaos, and melody, Inhuman Rampage is the next step in the evolution of metal.
Writers and magazines from France, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Holland, Japan and many more wasted little time in falling under the band’s spell. Perhaps the best summation of all these accolades was Rock Hard (Germany)’s prediction that: "DragonForce could become the first British metal band in ages to reap respect from all over the world."
