Event Description
Believe it or not, Hip Hop legend Snoop Dogg teams up with a legend in his own right, Ice Cube, for the most exciting hip hop tour to hit Canada this year.In a game not known for the longevity of its players, Snoop Dogg stands alone. Others may have burned as brightly but few have managed to stay at the top for as long as the superstar rapper. CDs, television, movies, numerous cameos on other peoples’ albums have only whetted the public’s appetite for the hip-hop star, who is one of the few rapper’s whose appeal and charisma cuts across genre boundaries with 17 million records sold and counting. This tour is sure to be a blockbuster.
Thirteen years after his stunning debut Doggystyle made him a household name across the nation, Snoop is about to drop Tha Blue Carpet Treatment. A return to the sound that put the Long Beach rapper on the map, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment sees Snoop keeping it gangsta on each and every record. Following the street single, “Vato,” comes the highly anticipated second single, “That’s That” produced by Nottz and featuring R&B crooner R. Kelly. Already the most added at Urban and Rhythmic formats, the track is shaping up to be another platinum hit for the West Coast “Boss.” The disc also reunites Snoop and producer Dr. Dre on three tracks, marking the dynamic duo’s first collaborative effort in five years.
Back in the late 80’s when rap exploded, Ice Cube was the lyrical brains behind the massive world wide hit “Straight Outta Compton” and brought West Coast hip hop to the people. Rather than simply rest on his movie star laurels however, Ice Cube is getting back in the game. Laugh Now Cry Later is his first record of new material in ages, and it's worth the wait. Nearly 20 years after transforming the hip-hop scene with N.W.A. and his first two solo albums, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and Death Certificate, Ice Cube has made his most accomplished and hard-hitting record to date, featuring collabs with some of today's rap heavies and singles like "Chrome & Paint" and "Why We Thugs".
