The Newcombe Singers, Victoria’s "Centennial '67" community choir sings Bach to Beatles in four-part harmony, and welcomes all who love to sing. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at St. Mary’s Church, 1701 Elgin Road (Oak Bay). Repertoire is mostly classical with a good selection of modern works and jazz standards. The choir is guided by conductor Peter Dent, and supported by assistant conductor Kristina Stevens and accompanist Robert Dukarm. The Newcombe Singers welcome sopranos, altos, and especially tenors and basses to join the fun at each new session: spring sessions begin in January, and winter sessions begin in September each year. Sight-reading is a bonus, not a requirement. There are no auditions, but support and encouragement for your musical growth abounds. If you would like to check us out in advance, you are welcome to sit in on three rehearsals at the start of each session before making your decision.
