Kit Eakle

Kit Eakle is an internationally known jazz violinist, author, and educator currently residing in Vancouver, BC. He has been active on the jazz scene in the san Francisco Bay area, Vancouver, and Victoria. His most current project has been called DjangoSphere - featuring the music of Thelonious Sphere Monk and Django Reinhardt in unusual configurations. Eakle has also taught continuing education courses at Simon Faser University and The University of California including courses on Thelonious Monk, Jazz ('What Makes It Jazz?), and the History of Jazz Violin. He also has played concerts featuring music related to the history of the violin in jazz, from early per jazz from the late 19th century to the present. A trained classical violinist who has studied with the likes of Gwen Thompson, Phillipe Etter, and Myron Kartman, Eakle has performed in every style of jazz from Ragtime and Gypsy Jazz to Swing, Jazz Standards, Bebop and Modal and free Jazz.
He has played with The finest performers in the US and Canada, including Howard Alden, Miles Black, Michael Creber, Paul Pigat, Chris Sigerson, Pat Collins, Miles Hill, André Lachance, David Grisman, Dan Hicks, Dan Lapp, Mads Tolling, Chris Howes, and many more.
