About
Freddy Cole Quartet
Freddy Cole QuartetFreddy Cole is one of the most revered male vocalists working in jazz today. Also a hip piano player, Cole captivates audiences with his elegant presence, subtle phrasing, and intimate singing style. He is the younger brother of the legendary Nat King Cole, and though there are certain unmistakable similarities between the two siblings, Freddy’s voice is raspier, smokier, and jazzier. Indeed, his phrasing is far closer to that of Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday, and he swings a little more. The New York Times writes, “Freddy has an impeccable sense of swing…he is overall the most maturely expressive male jazz singer of his generation, if not the best alive.” People magazine gushes about his “gorgeous autumnal baritone and pitch-perfect feel for jazz standards, pop tunes and love ballads.” Cole has released a series of achingly beautiful albums (Because of You, This Love of Mine) that serve to confirm his status as a singular artist with a style and musical sophistication all his own. With Elias Bailey bass, Bruce Edwards guitar, and Curtis Boyd drums.
