About
Union One
Label: 604 Records
UNION ONEUNION ONE started in Nov. 2002 when Crispin Earl (Vocals-June), frustrated with the state of music today, decided to start writing some melodic rock of his own.
Singing and playing the drums, Crispin enlisted Tom MacDonald (Bass-Flybanger, BigFATScratch) and Al Levy (Guitar-Boxcutter) to rock his original six-song recording, produced by local wiz-kid Jay V. P.
Not quite aware of what he had, Crispin circulated a few copies of the songs within the record industry to gage response to his creations. Immediately there was interest from such labels as Island/Def Jam, Maverick, Atlantic; etc who started offering deals to the band. One of the first to recognize Crispins potential was Jonathan Simkin (604 Records Canada), who sent a copy of the material to his partner Chad Kroeger (Nickelback). Chad immediately called Crispin to say that he wanted something to do with the project.
Realizing that he needed a permanent band, Crispin asked Tom and Al to stay on as permanent members while he looked for a drummer and second guitar player. Tom jumped at the chance to work fulltime with Crispin but unfortunately Al Levy was too busy recording and producing music for his company Digital Dreamhouse. Al has since been replaced on guitar by Will Campagna (Templar, Strapping Young Lad).
Next to join the burgeoning brotherhood was Chris Crippin (Drums-Biff Naked, Sun Like Star). Rounding out the band on second guitar duty is our new kid on the block Josh Ketola!
This brings us to the name UNION ONE. Working with a keep it simple, stupid principal, the bands name is a description of the extremely fast UNION of the guys into a tight brotherhood of ONE.
UNION ONE is 604 Records latest signing, Joining ranks with such bands as; Theory Of A Deadman, Ian Thornly and Mariannas Trench. Inking their record deal in early 03, the boys have been in world famous Greenhouse Studios with Chad Kroeger (Default, Theory Of A Deadman) at the production helm and Joey Moi (Nickelback, Default, Saliva, TOADM, Closure) twisting knobs.
Canadian label 604 Records is gearing up to shop the new Chad Kroeger produced UNION ONE songs to American labels, who have already begun to make offers for the rights (Outside of Canada) to this exciting new band.
