About

Jody Williams Band

Although Chicago has spawned many not-so-legendary “guitar legends” over the years, Jody Williams is, quite simply, the real deal. A staple on Chess Records during the ‘50s and ‘60s, Williams was a gifted six-string stylist whose serpentine leads and boisterous back-street tone added texture and grit to classic recordings by Howlin’ Wolf, Billy Boy Arnold, and Bo Diddley (including the immortal Who Do You Love?). Rediscovered by a new generation of guitarists who loved his playing and coaxed him back on-stage, Williams recently recorded his first-ever album, the incendiary Return of a Legend. Suffice it to say the man still has a fire in his belly and plays the blues with a bite and authority that few artists can hope to match. Williams will be on stage with Paris Slim guitar, Tom Leavey bass, Lee Campbell drums, Rand Chortkoff harmonica and John Cleary organ/saxophone. If you want to hear a historic guitarist with a brilliant future, don’t miss this amazing comeback!
