About
Anna Milton
Anna Milton is a graduate of Cardiff College of Art and a widely exhibited artist who has lived in the Cowichan Valley since 2015. She attended the Art Institute at Capilano College for printmaking with Wayne Eastcott. She also trained as an art therapist and worked in that field until she retired. In her earlier life she taught many classes and ran various creative workshops. Now she is inspired by the Cowichan Valley and wants to use all her aquired skills to create images of this environment.
Anna’s process in creating the images shown here starts with drawings on rice or Japanese papers, lifted from an inked plate. She then collages these drawings onto the canvas. Once the rice paper drawings are fixed to the canvas, Anna uses watercolours, acrylics and gouache to paint and stencil, adding colour and texture. As place is significant, maps are attached that relate to the imagery of the landscape.
