details
The music that Vancouver-based, Canadian singer/songwriter Aidan Mayes creates is both instantly familiar and yet tantalizingly fresh - like meeting cherished friends again after a long absence, or the sudden smells that remind you of childhood. Mayes is not just a talent, she’s multi-talented. She not only composed all the songs on her new full-length CD, "Cave of Wonders", she also performed all the vocals, played both guitar and piano, and more amazingly, produced the entire debut disc. That’s quite an accomplishment for a self-taught, up-and-comer. But wait until you hear it. "Cave of Wonders" is filled with Mayes’ captivating and honest compositions that explore subjects ranging from lost love to self-realization and the pleasures of having a sweet tooth. With an angelic voice that is both innocent and world-wise, Mayes weaves an enchanting spell that dances between shadow and light, sounding at once ethereal and pensive while remaining grounded in hope and the promise of a new day. Born and raised in Penticton, British Columbia, Mayes grew up with a love of sunshine, sand, poetry and song, and was performing musical theatre at an early age. After graduating from Victoria’s Canadian College of Performing Arts, Mayes relocated to Vancouver to hone her craft on the city’s many small stages and venues. That hard work has already begun to pay off for Mayes. Mere months after its release, "Cave of Wonders" is already garnering critical acclaim and industry accolades. It was recently nominated for Album of the Year at the Okanagan Music Awards, where Mayes received the award for Female Artist of the Year! Aidan Mayes' new CD, "Cave of Wonders", is available at HMV, itunes, puretracks.com, as well as online at indiepool.com. Mayes recently finished as a TOP 90 contestant on CTV's Canadian Idol Season 6. Visit www.aidanmayes.com for more in-depth juiciness about this exciting artist!
