About

Wilma Millette

I am a third generation Vancouver Islander. I live and teach in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.

I see beauty in everyday objects from the past and like to repurpose them in artful ways. A trio of old door knobs, well worn from all the opening and shutting, the patina is perfect. An ordinary document, for the sale of a parcel of land, so beautifully written, on parchment paper, is just waiting to be appreciated.

I create one of a kind collage and assemblage artwork using paper ephemera from the 19th and 20th centuries and vintage and antique found objects from my personal collection and other sources. I like to combine them in unexpected was to create a narrative that gives them new life and relevance. I like to think that the artisans who created them, long ago, would be pleased.

My work is for sale at my studio. You can view my full portfolio on my website and view collage and assemblage pieces for sale.

I offer workshops a few times a year in my home studio in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. The studio is open to visitors by appointment.
