I was brought into the world, kicking and screaming, back in the 70's. From an early age, I was always interested in music and was lucky to grow up in an environment filled with classics like Rod Stewart, The Who, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Genesis, the list goes on. As the years went by, an interest in learning an instrument was growing. There wasn't an opportunity to learn music at home, and ended up with teachers forcing me to play instruments like the Baritone in school band. This proved to be less than enjoyable. In junior high school in Campbell River, I found myself playing a snare drum, kettle drums, or the simple triangle in band class. Although band class was dreadful, it gave me the opportunity to sit down at the full drum kit and hack away at rock beats after class. Even though I enjoyed the after class benefits, it wasn't long before I quit band (or perhaps my attitude got me kicked out) which put a fast stop to music for some time. Sometime later in the great city of Kamloops, I met up with a friend who was learning guitar.
