About
Sewing With Nancie
Label: Fastmusic Records
Sewing With Nancie is not a beverage, but they sure are tasty. Since april 1996, the Windsor Ontario trio has developed a carbonated punk sound worthy of quite a ruckus. In preparation of their fifth release,(and debut CD on Fastmusic), SWN are rapidly bringing a frantic energy boost to the Ontario punk scene. In 1998 SWN released a 7" vinyl EP with songs recorded via top prize in a battle of the bands. They went on to recieve opening slots for bands such as SNFU, Treble Charger, and The Gandharvas, as well as a slot in a large annual Canadian event, the International Freedom festival. Eventually their first seven inch "Even Steven" sold out. Every SWN song is developed around a melody The First thing you'll notice when listening to them is the catchy, anthematic , with lyrics that revolve around rock 'n' roll staples - girls, cars, and of course... high-school.In January of 1999, Sewing With Nancie was hit by suprise when on the same day Los Rudos was released, they were informed by FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records) that they were to receive a government grant to record their long-awaited full length CD, which will be released on Fastmusic worldwide this fall. Originally, they released a CD on their own called "the same three chords," but recently, they've been picked up by Fastmusic and have returned to the studio to record 3 new songs for their debut label release.
The new cover will be a picture of some hot chicks sortin' a sassy pose in the schoolyeard. While SWN are in college, they still manage to travel to shows almost every weekend, and tour all summer . Since they began touring in 1999, SWN has amassed important followings in many Ontario cities including London, Hamilton, Brantford, Windsor. Now their energy and live show will be spreading the US with their upcoming national tour.
The Sewing With Nancie experience could not be complete without seeing them live. Their live show is considered by many a caffienated adrenaline assult. At any SWN show one would witness a band connecting with the croud like never before, enticing their teenage fans to create organized mayhem via the moshpit; where they sing, dance and raise their fists in the infamous metal salute that punk bands like SWN have become all too familiar with.
