Clare Thomas

I create drawings, paintings, textile pieces and installations about memory, family history and the longing for home. I am interested in everyday and overlooked materials such as discarded clothing, plastic beach debris, packaging and magazine images. In my practice I often use crafts such as collage, embroidery and hand sewing, as well as drawing, painting and sculpture. The result is a body of work that the crosses boundaries between contemporary and decorative art, and is readily approachable for a wide range of people.

I am a founder member of BOXCARSIX, a contemporary artist collective in Victoria, Canada.
