She Wants Revenge

Evoking the deep bass moodiness of Bauhaus, Joy Division and other pioneering goth acts, She Wants Revenge updates the sound of sensual alienation for a new generation.

The Los Angeles duo, comprised of DJs Justin Warfield and Adam 12, have just released their self-titled debut album via Flawless/Geffen. The record features one of the best opening tracks of the year in "Red Flags And Long Nights", and proceeds to walk a fine line between dance and goth. "These Things," accompanied by a video Duran Duran would be proud of, shows off the album’s dark sexual undertones and Justin’s Peter Murphy-like vocals, while "Tear You Apart" uses a simple drum machine to provide the backbone to aggressive bass lines and alluring melody. She Wants Revenge takes the best of a specific period in music and pushes that sound back into the spotlight with what the band describes as “torch songs, basically, songs of lust and want, obsession, love and sex.” Instead of making nostalgia rock, the two California boys have crafted an inventive, groundbreaking, pop-perfect dance album suitable for gearing up for the club, dancing the night into oblivion, coming down and doing it all over again.
