About

June

Label: independant
JUNE’s music shows the band's ability to create stuck-in-your-head songs, while maintaining an experimental edge that appeals to a wide audience. The keys to JUNE's unique sound are creative, skilled musicians. Both Crispin Earl and Jay Van Poederooyen earned scholarships to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Ryan Van Poederooyen was featured in DRUMS Etc. Magazine as one of Vancouver’s top drummers, and Eric Schraeder is classically trained in guitar. Ryan pulls double duty, as he also plays drums for the Metal band God Awakens Petrified.

JUNE was formed in October 1999, and is made up of members Crispin Earl (vocals / acoustic guitar), Jay Van Poederooyen (bass guitar / synth), Eric Schraeder (electric guitar) and Ryan Van Poederooyen (drums). All members are originally from the small town of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, but made the move to Vancouver to seek out their musical destinies. After less than a year of writing, playing live shows, and recording, JUNE's debut CD Signs of Ascension was released on November 5, 2000 at a sold out show in Vancouver.
"Breathing In", the band's debut single, attained Top 10 status on farmclub.com in December 2000. Sales of the album have gone on to surpass 1,000 units.
JUNE has since garnered increasing attention in Vancouver. JUNE headlined NewMusicWest 2001, and have played several sold out shows, including The Commodore Ballroom (with Static in Stereo). Strong radio support has come from heavyweight stations XFM and CFOX in Vancouver, and 100. 3 The Q and Extreme 107.3 in Victoria. JUNE closed the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler in April 2001. They also hit the road with Templar, and almost had to walk ho
