Digable Planets

In the nineties the Digable Planets music spoke for itself. Tight beats linked to hip-hops roots and jazz styles, coupled with subdued, laid-back rhymes, satisfying new and old hip hop listeners alike. Creative sampling showcased snippets of Funk & Jazz pioneers, bringing new audiences to classic originators like Curtis Mayfield, Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock and many more. The Planets two classic albums “Blowout Comb” and “Reachin' (A New Refunduation of Time and Space)” will go down in hip hop history. Singles like "Nickle Bags", "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like That)" and "9th Wonder" climbed the charts to the top ten and blazed the way for rap artists to bring more jazz samples into their music.
