Jonas Kullhammar Quartet

With his appropriately Thor-like name, Nordic saxophone god Jonas Kullhammar has quickly and convincingly established himself as a colossus on the Swedish jazz scene. Although only 27, Kullhammar has released three impressive discs and won several prestigious awards (earlier recipients included such luminaries as Palle Danielsson and Bobo Stenson). Most frequently compared with Sonny Rollins, Kullhammar has a density of tone, rhythmic fluidity and supple flow of ideas that are nothing short of amazing. His band includes Torbjorn Gutz piano, Tobrjorn Zetterberg bass, and Jonas Holgersson drums.
