About

Daniel G. Harmann & The Trouble Starts

Daniel G. Harmann and his band — Kenny Ball on bass, Shea Bliss on drums and guitarist Aaron Starkey — self-identify as master craftsmen of working class art, as sinewy and sensual as Blur, as strong as the late 90s Seattle rock scene and as emotionally honest and deep as melancholy rockers Jimmy Eat World, Idlewild, or even Fugazi.
The band has jumped forward with Risk, which will be released last year on Burning Building Recordings. Recorded live over five days last year with Long Winters bassist Eric Corson, the album's songs captured what the group describes as "a creative burst." Various people have tagged Harmann's work as everything from "beautiful and expressionistic" to "mope rock." "Call it what you will," Harmann says, "but at its core, it's rock and roll. It's dirty and imperfect. It's quiet and loud."
