Angela Basombrio

Vocalist Angela Basombrio has been working steadily in Canada and the USA for 10 years. She has been fronting bands and ensembles that feature jazz, blues and gospel here in Victoria. Angela clearly stands on her own as a vocalist and has been described as powerful, sultry, soulful and evocative. Her natural ability to vocalize the material she loves clearly shines through in her music. She hopes this dedication to her craft will inspire others to enjoy the stories and emotions present in these songs.


Angela has chosen her long time musical partner drummer Pete Richards, whose sensitivity to melodic phrasing provides the perfect background for her soaring vocals. Virtuoso bassist James Young makes up the other third of this exciting trio. James� ability to solo in any context adds a third voice to this musical caldron creating complex rhythms and harmonies befit a big band. The unique combination of string bass, drums and vocals create a sound that is sparse yet surprisingly full.
