Their name means “tapestry,” but
it also would seem to denote
virtuosity, global connections,
and devotional transcendence.
This Ottawa-based folk-meetsworld-
music ensemble is predominantly
North Indian, but they
incorporate Appalachian dulcimer,
slide guitar, and saxophone to
create a seamless global blending
of East and West. Galitcha
comprises Kuljit Sodhi
vocals/percussion, Chris Maclean
guitar/dulcimer, Linsey Wellman
saxophone, and Shawn Mativetsky
percussion.
