About

Tractor

Tractor is intense music - twisting and turning as your senses are pummeled with discordant riffs and brutal low-end overlapped by off-time, complex grooves and fax machine influenced vocals. Extremely tight, yet open and free to explore and experiment. The band's unique form of aggressive music is born of a tendency toward playing heavy music combined with diverse musical influences such as Miles Davis, Squarepusher, and Meshuggah.

Tractor started in 1996 with the intention of creating something that we all enjoyed playing and listening to and with the hope that this would translate to the listener. Tractor has four members presently: Andre Schaubs (lead guitar), Marcel Schaubs (rhythm guitar), Larry Hoare (drums), Tricia Boer (bass guitar).

Once we had a lineup that complimented our musical ideas we chose to record at 12th St Studio in New Westminster B.C. We produced and engineered a 5 song E.P. entitled 'Nipple Red Sword', and then moved over to Red Stripe studio in Vancouver B.C. and had Devin Townsend from Strapping Young Lad step in to do the mixing.

Since 1998, Tractor has attracted an extremely loyal fan base with its brand of eclectic aggressiveness. Tractor has opened and headlined at various established venues in Vancouver B.C. playing with local acts such as God Awakens Petrified and Zimmer's Hole.

With the local success of our song 'Optimus Prime was Right' we decided it would be the perfect choice for a video and commissioned a local computer animation artist to handle the visuals. The video was completed in June 2002 and was submitted in a Canada-wide festival sponsored by CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation), which subsequently won its place in the top five out of over 300 films and videos.

Since the 'Nipple Red Sword' recording in 2000 we've been busy working on new material. Recording of the new CD will begin with the addition of a new vocalist.
