About

Doug Doppler

Doug Doppler - Certified Guitar Hero. With the 7.24.07 release of Guitar Hero Encore Rocks the 80's, Doug Doppler is now
officially certifiable.

In addition to serving as a house musician for WaveGroup Sound (best known for their work on the Guitar Hero
franchise), Doug has spent much of the past two years on touring the globe with acts like Michael Schenker (U.S. 2007)
and Gilby Clarke (Europe 2006), and as a clinician for Ibanez guitars (Italy, U.K., New Zealand, Australia and U.S.). Doug
has also shared the stage with Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, and Uli Jon Roth.

Signed to Steve Vai's highly acclaimed Favored Nations label, Doug's playing is both melodic and intense. An avid 7-
String fanatic, Doppler is inspired by both the heaviness that the low range of the instrument provides, as well as the
soaring nature of the high strings when played at the top of the neck - "I love the fact that the same guitar can have so
much growl and be incredibly melodic at the same time. For me, the juxtaposition of these sounds opens up so many
doors sonically." And yes, Doppler can shred with the best of them - in 2004 Doppler's band played the G3 show with
Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen in the San Fransisco Bay Area, Doug's home.

June 2007 saw the release of the Guitar Masters CD. Doug's "Zero Gravity", originally recorded as a promotional piece for
the Ibanez ZR tremolo, sits along side songs by Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Stanley Clarke, Zakk Wylde, John Paul Jones,
Steve Morse, and Billy Sheehan. "To be on the same disc with so many legendary players is both humbling and at times
unbelievable" says Doppler.

Although he no longer teaches privately, guitarists everywhere can study with Doug via his highly regarded Guitar 411
DVD series. In the April 2006 issue of Guitar Player magazine, associate editor Jude Gold had this to say - “When you're
serious about learning this information - which you should be - then clinician, teacher, and Favored Nations recording
artist Doug Doppler is the perfect guy to beat it into your head.” "Diatonic Theory and Harmony", the first title in the
Guitar 411 series is joined by "Whammy Bar Mojo" which was released in May 2007. You can visit Guitar411.com for more
